The Cypriot cuisine is an exotic blend of Greek and Middle Eastern cultures, sprinkled with remnants of ancient civilisations such as indigenous Roman root vegetables or old Phoenician delicacies. When you try our food you will be astonished from the taste and the feeling that you will have once you try different dishes. You might be wondering what traditional foods are there. The most popular one is Meze; a traditional selection of hot and cold appetizers, meze is basically Cyprus’s equivalent to tapas. A meze platter could include Mediterranean specialities like Tzatziki – a yogurt dip made with garlic, cucumber, and olive oil. Tahini is a paste of crushed sesame seeds, olive oil, lemon and garlic. Tarmosalata is a type of fish roe mixed with pureed potatoes, olive oil, lemon juice and onions. Hummus is a traditional pureed chickpea and tahini dip and Haloumi which is grilled and spiced soft goat or sheep’s cheese.

Kebabs; a selection of homemade deliciously prepared kebabs is very traditional in Cyprus. It’s mostly chunks of meat; chicken, lamb, pork and fish it’s cooked on a skewer and seasons with olive oil, oregano and lemon. They are usually server with tzatziki and delicious pita bread.

Souvlaki or “souvla’’ as Cypriots call it, is thin sliced meat pieces – traditionally lamb, pork, chicken and sometimes beef. It’s served with pitta break and picked salad, hummus and tzatziki.

Koupepia are appetizers and Greek delicacies showcased minced meat and white rice daintily wrapped in steamed grape leaves.
