Hole in one

Golfers who choose to stay at Alexander the Great Beach Hotel are selecting us due to our convenient location, with all the island’s golf courses, at most, 20 minutes away. We have good relationships with all the Golf Clubs in the area and packages providing a host of golf-friendly services and facilities.

At the Hotel we offer a dedicated storage space for our guests’ golf clubs, a taxi service with a trolley for their equipment, and we also have a meeting point for them to enjoy a drink and talk about the day’s play when they return to the hotel. Continue reading “Hole in one” »

More Fun For Kids

Being part of the Kanika Hotels group means that we can learn from our sister hotels, so in the same way that Olympic Lagoon Resort and Alexander the Great Hotel approached their Kids’ clubs, we have followed in turn by opening an indoor dedicated area for children. Now for Elias families we have an extended season, more activities in the programme and a longer day of arts, crafts, dance, puppets, playtime, games…the list goes on and on.

Now that’s entertainment!

Celebrities such as Peter Andre’s brother Chris sing at all the hotels; they encompass the quality that Kanika aims to provide. For 2014, Kanika introduces Joel Jones, whose stylish, seductive voice serenades the crowd with his repertoire of Classic, Swing and Motown. On other evenings, the audience are treated to an extravaganza of song and dance courtesy of Chicago Rouge, The Jersey Boys, Michael Bublé tribute, Rock around the Clock show, Flashback through the Decades and the All Star Movie and Theatre awards, with musicals spanning Lion King, Joseph and Grease. The artists themselves are hand-picked from UK-wide auditions by Claire, and though the selection process is strenuous and the rehearsals gruelling, the final quality makes it all worthwhile.

Unity Terrace: for seafront weddings

With breathtaking views of the Mediterranean Sea, Pafos’ Medieval Castle and the fishing harbour, the new landscaped Unity Terrace ‘Wedding Garden’ at Alexander the Great Beach Hotel offers couples one of the most romantic and exclusive seafront venues to tie the knot in Cyprus. An elevated scenic terrace provides a venue for the actual wedding ceremony. A romantic bridge over a small man-made lake and a picture-postcard waterfall surrounded by tropical gardens lead to the private and exclusive terrace, just perfect for hosting an intimate wedding celebration. And a direct view of the Cyprus sunset provides a romantic close to that very special day.Unity Terrace Wedding Venue

But the Hotel’s amazing location – close to the old town, the harbour, and a number of stunning archaeological sites – makes it the number one choice for all our potential guests.

True Taverna Tradition

afeliaDespite being a small island, Cyprus is a crossroads of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern gastronomy and therefore boasts a vast cuisine rich in different ingredients. There are countless traditional dishes worth sampling, and at Kanika hotels, each taverna is a culinary journey to true Cypriot cooking. Their carefully crafted ‘meze’, a collection of twenty ‘small plates’, is deliberately generous to introduce you to many dishes within one sitting amongst beautiful surroundings.

At Olympic Lagoon Resort, the Captain’s Deck is a cosy outdoor terrace restaurant flaunting panoramic views of the lake and lush tropical gardens of Fisherman’s Village. Blue Paradise with its all-white décor adds a Grecian feel to Elias Beach as you dine al fresco beside crystal Mediterranean waters and at Alexander the Great’s Limanaki Tavern, the spacious, open setting means every table has a sea view, and is embellished with beautiful stone columns and towering palm trees. ‘When visiting a country, it’s natural to want to explore the cuisine; and given our passion for Cypriot food, we felt it a responsibility to display our own take on meze within our resorts’, explains Antonis Nicolaou, Executive Chef at Olympic Lagoon Resort.

The Kanika All Stars Animation Team

Alexander Animation TeamKanika places a great deal of importance on the contribution their animators make towards each guest’s holiday experience. The entertainment team are encouraged by Kanika to put forward new ideas and concepts based on guest feedback in order to keep the programme – which changes every half hour and is tailored to each property individually – fresh and updated. Not an easy task, considering the staggering mix of indoor and outdoor activities including sports (darts, table tennis, zumba, beach volleyball, shuffleboard, football, archery), water activities (aqua aerobics, pool mini disco, water polo), demonstrations (cocktails, cookery, scuba diving), games and quizzes, live shows and dancing, movie nights and competitions. Although the adult and children’s entertainment programmes differ, the emphasis is on families, so many of the activities actually cater to all members of the family.

At the end of September each year, the team gets together to brainstorm ideas for the following year. It is a system that works, evident in the genuine smiles of a team who, due to the extensive animation programme set up, work long hours as a rule.

Free Wifi for all

Working OutsideRegardless of their age, most leisure and business visitors to Cyprus are now part of the high-tech community carrying smartphones, iPads and tablets, or laptops for serious business. These users expect and need internet connectivity 24 hours a day. Not long ago, Kanika Hotels only offered free Wifi to its loyalty card holders. But now we realise it’s something everyone needs. So it’s available to all our hotel guests, in all our properties, indoors and outdoors.

The Food+ Factor

_DSC9980The Alexander the Great Beach Hotel’s Half & Full Board PLUS is simply too delicious to resist. Contrary to anything you may have heard about half-board and full-board options, the Alexander variety does not confine you to a single restaurant. In fact, HB+ entitles you not only to a 14-day rotation of buffet meals in Roxane’s restaurant, but also to three speciality dinners per week of stay: one in the intimate Garibaldi Italian restaurant, one al fresco at KIKU Japanese Dining with authentic live cooking, and one in the Greek Taverna, the must-have of any holiday in Cyprus. For a full 3 meals a day, FB+ adds a lunch buffet to the mix, while breakfast is included for everyone.

Indeed, breakfast is an experience in itself, served in the extended indoor-outdoor Café Royale that is never overcrowded. The variety of live cooking and buffet stations will seriously challenge weight watchers. That said, health conscious guests will find no shortage of fresh fruits, nuts and all the favourite local produce. This is certainly one area of the hotel that bridges the generation – and taste – gap.
